Host Port

The Port of Baltimore’s strong reputation as a leading US port is fostered by its outstanding operations system. From its industry-renowned quality programs to its efficient logistics network, cargo is always handled with white-glove treatment at the Port of Baltimore. However, what sets Baltimore apart from other ports are the men and women who comprise its extremely productive labor force and truly make the Port of Baltimore the economic engine it is today.

Cargo is the lifeblood of the Port of Baltimore. As one of the nation’s top ports for total cargo tonnage and overall dollar value of cargo, the Port of Baltimore is also one of the most diverse ports in the United States. The key commodities handled at Baltimore’s six public marine terminals include autos, roll on/roll off, containers, forest products, and project cargo.

Modern port operations are characterized by high productivity rates and permanent plant availability due to optimally coordinated work processes. Accordingly, automation and the conversion of old facilities into “Green Ports” are advancing by leaps and bounds. Ports are highly complex technical systems. This require flexible, smart and reliable systems for energy and data transmission, positioning and control at various points. Autonomous vehicles or remote-controlled eRTG cranes are just two examples.

VAHLE provides innovative system solutions that meet the requirements of electrified ports. In addition to technical solutions, our customers also receive support from us in the conceptual design and construction of their port technology.
